1. CLOSED POSITION — STATE 0 (Ps.Ce–0)

(Structural preparatory state)

1.1. General definition

The Closed Position — State 0 (Ps.Ce–0) is an initial structural configuration of the linked couple, characterized by:

  • a mutual displaced V foot state,

  • and a Closed Classical Link (ECC),

which establish the conditions of stability, coupling, and readiness for leading.

1.2. General structure of the position

The position is composed of two subsystems:

  • Couple foot state

  • Link system (ECC)

1.3. Mutual foot state

The couple’s foot state presents:

  • V-shaped configuration in both components,

  • heels oriented inward,

  • toes opened at an angle,

  • slight anterior overlap of the forefeet,

  • opposed and offset arrangement.

1.3.1. Individual components

The following are defined:

  • EPH–V → Foot state of the guiding component

  • EPM–V → Foot state of the guided component

Both share:

  • centered weight distribution,

  • extended legs,

  • stable three-point configuration.

1.3.2. Structural properties

The V foot state constitutes:

  • a triangular support structure,

  • a stable equilibrium system,

  • the recurrent base of all steps.

1.3.3. Generative principle

The V foot state functions as:

the generative principle of choreographic motion

since it contains, in potential state, the configurations of all subsequent displacements.

1.4. Structural distance

The position is established at:

Distance 1 (D1)

defined as the separation between the axial axes of both components.

This distance allows:

  • structural contact,

  • mechanical coupling,

  • functional operation of the link.

1.5. Link system

The position employs:

Closed Classical Link (ECC)

1.5.2. Link structure

The ECC is composed of:

  • A — Embrace

  • G — Grip

1.5.3. Contact points

Four structural points are identified:

  1. Manual grip (G)

  2. Scapula of the guiding component

  3. Scapula of the guided component

  4. Elbow of the guided component (support point)

1.5.4. Contact configuration

  • full contact in the embrace zone,

  • support of the weight of the guided component’s arm,

  • manual connection in the grip.

1.6. Functional property of the position

The Closed Position — State 0 constitutes:

  • a state of structural equilibrium,

  • a state of complete coupling,

  • a state of readiness for leading.

1.7. Nature of the state

This state does not imply movement.

It is defined as:

dynamic neutral state (dynamic zero)

from which any mechanical action generates a structural response in the linked system.

1.8. Function within the MCC system

Ps.Ce–0 functions as:

  • structural starting point,

  • spatial organizational reference,

  • base for the execution of figures.
